TURMOIL
The Process Of
[Century Media]
VERDICT: 9.5/10
RIYL: Antagonist A.D., Torn, Martyr A.D. & Premonitions Of War

When The Process Of exploded onto the scene in 1999 it made waves. The unrelenting assault left listeners bruised, tired and itching for more. TURMOIL, even amongst their metallic hardcore peers, stood above them. The Process Of possessed an unquenchable anger that seethed through each of the albums 12 tracks. The production was as tight and huge as a band of this intensity could hope for at the time. The music alone was more than enough to stand on it’s own, but when mixed with the harsh, venomous and powerful vocals, it was truly felt as a threat. Technical and raw, what TURMOIL did was influence the next generation of heavy hitters (from the underground like Scarlet and Premonitions Of War to bands like Unearth and Antagonist A.D.), their mark, more specifically The Process Of‘s mark, has been felt by scorching the musical climate around it and leaving a lasting impression, that as of this year, has lasted 15 years. “What the fuck!?”       -by Jon Hole

In conclusion…TURMOIL’s The Process Of was, and is the absolute BEST, definitive standard of metalcore. Crushingly heavy and savage, this masterpiece of an album will live forever.
